Hakalau school was then moved to this new site. Mr. John Allam Baptist was the first teacher, followed by Mr. Carvalho, then Mr. Anjou.
In 1901, Mr. Eugene S. Capellas, Sr. came from Maui as a teacher and later as principal of the school for forty-seven years. 1917 saw the first regular graduating class when students were graduated from the eighth grade.
Mr. Capellas was succeeded by Mr. Ernest Spillner, followed by Mr. Eugene S. Capellas, Jr., Mr. Yoshitsugu Yamada, Mr. Kengo Takata, Dr. Margaret Oda and Mr. Gilbert Choi. The last principal of the school was Mrs. Marguerite Ooka. In 1972, the school, along with Pepeekeo School, was consolidated with Kalanianaole School and school operation in Hakalau was terminated.
Over the years the school extended its curriculum to take in students from kindergarten or grade 1 to grade 9, and for sometime grade 10.
