What is the Hāmākua Community Development Plan?
A Community Development Plan (CDP) is an official plan authorized by the County of Hawaiʻi General Plan that translates the broad goals and objectives of the General Plan to the unique needs and conditions of a region. The Hāmākua CDP is adopted by County ordinance and is a long-range plan with a 20-year time horizon. The Hāmākua CDP addresses each element of the County General Plan as it applies to the District of Hāmākua. This includes a combination of land-use amendments, policies, budgetary items, public-private partnership building, and community-based implementation activities that are needed to accomplish many kinds of goals. ![]()
